This is one of the earliest varieties of mangoes to hit the market and is available from April to June. Originally from Banganapalli in Andhra Pradesh, they are large and oval in shape; golden yellow in colour and deliciously sweet and sour in taste.
Available in June & July, Dasheri is mainly cultivated in Uttar Pradesh and is one of the oldest varieties of mango in India. Popularly known as the ‘chusne wala aam’, it is enjoyed the most by pulling off its tip and sucking the thick, sweet and juicy pulp.

Langra is a popular mango variety and was first cultivated in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Today it is also grown in West Bengal, Bihar and Haryana and is in season from July to August. Oval-shaped and incredibly delicious, it is green in colour and is highly fibrous.
Kesar
Kesar, also known as the ‘Queen of Mangoes’ is a delightful and flavourful variety of mango and is available from April to early July. A premium variety, its fragrance is most distinct. Also, its pulp resembles the golden yellow colour of the spice, Saffron, it is named after. Grown mostly in Gujarat, it is used primarily to make aamras, the staple and delicious sweet dish of the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Known as the ‘King of Mangoes’, Alphonso is small and spherical in shape; rich in flavour and has a creamy pulp. Also called Hapus, it is the most premium variety of mangoes available in India and is mostly exported. Native to Maharashtra, it is also grown in Gujarat and parts of Karnataka and in season between May and June. It is primarily used to make aamras, mango sorbet, and many delicious mango desserts.
